When observing carefully, the fibers of linen are thicker than those of cotton.

However, it’s difficult to distinguish

between silk and polyester only by their appearance.

We can touch materials to distinguish from them.

Cotton and linen ties are rougher and thicker than silk and polyester ones.

And the linen is rougher than cotton.

Silk and polyester are soft and smooth. Meanwhile,

Silk is softer than polyester.

It is the best and convenience method.

Burning

If you happen to have a lighter in your hand,

burn a small piece of them, and you will see the differences of them.

There is unpleasant smell and something left when burn silk and polyester,

it is different from cotton and linen.When burning, the silk has the smell which is similar

to charred hair. But the smell of burning polyester smells like charred plastic.

It’s easy to distinct with silk and polyester.

Meanwhile, the burning cotton and linen have different smell from above two,

the smell of burning linen smells like burning hay and the other is not.
